With two more pastry places to cover, (three if I count a dessert cafe), I am tackling La Patisserie des Reves, a pastry shop of dreams. Coincidentally, the two remaining patisseries are within steps of each other on rue du Bac, and a very short walk from Le Bon Marche.
Each bell jar contains two sizes of the dessert; a small personal size pastry and a larger cake/tart meant for sharing.
Viennoiserie and other sweet treats like marshmallows, jams, cookies, candies, and truffles are displayed on shelves along the walls.
I like how the pastry is secured in the pretty pink boxes.
Over the years I've had the pleasure of sampling most of their delicious pastries, I wouldn't be able to choose one as my favorite, but here are a few that made a lasting impression:
The millefeuille was lovely and delicate.
The Saint-Honore - caramelized choux cream puffs resting on a puff pastry base and a good dose of cream.
La Patisserie des Reves is known for their chic take on old standards. This is their version of a peach pie.
Beautiful strawberry tart.
Tarte Rhubarbe - colorful strips of rhubarb, flaky tart shell, and a tangy, sweet center. This is a terrific seasonal pastry.
Someone else wanted a taste of this lemon meringue as I was photographing it in the park:)
Tarte citron - lemon custard with a heavenly meringue on top.
Frasier in a little jar.
Their pain au chocolat is pretty decent. Unfortunately, in a city like Paris, it is very difficult for an average pain au chocolat to stand out since the competition is very tough. Ble Sucre is my all time favorite, so anything one tastes after having that Holly Grail piece, will not measure up. On its own, this pain au chocolat is a solid choice.
Their Madeleines are huge!
