I find myself making my way up the New York State Thruway, whenever friends or family visit us from another state or abroad. Woodbury Common Outlet has been a very popular destination for many years, and it has grown from just a few dozen to 220 stores. Weekends are very crowded, before the holidays even more so, and I would not go near this place on Black Friday! During the very busy times, the traffic can be a nightmare.
I always find it very entertaining to see tourists rolling around their gigantic suitcases; they usually manage to fill them up nicely.
Here are some photos of what to expect:
Saks Off 5th is one of my favorites. They have a great selection of cashmere sweaters and scarves, a sizable denim section, and an awesome shoe department.
Saks Off 5th also has a selection of second hand Hermes bags and accessories. This Birkin was 15,500.00.
Prices at Woodbury are excellent, but one must be an educated consumer and know that some designers (I don't want to get in trouble by naming them) produce clothing specifically for outlets. The clothing at those stores is of a slightly poorer quality. Some stores, like the top designers, and some of the Department stores carry mostly last season items, but am I really going to say no to a Gucci bag from last summer? Here and there one can get very lucky and score something terrific.
I satisfy my Le Creuset addiction here:
There is a new food court with plenty of decent snack or lunch choices.
and a Shake Shack which is usually crowded.
The lockers are located near the Welcome Center/Food Hall. The rental cost of the lockers:
$15 - day for standard
$20 - day for large
$25 - day for X-large
Citysightsny.com or Woodburybus.com - for bus schedule and tickets to WCO from Manhattan. The trip usually takes an hour, but, the traffic can be unpredictable. It's good to stop by the Welcome Center to pick up a book of discounts.
