I think so far, I have covered plenty of pastries, and other great food options in Paris. Today I am going to write about Le Dome, one of our favorite fish restaurants in Paris. While I know, that Le Dome, for some, might not be at the top of the list, there is just something about this place that we find comforting. We have been dining at this brasserie for many years, have celebrated some special occasions there, and created some lovely memories there with friends and family. Each visit was special, the food delicious and the service excellent.
Le Dome has been around since 1898 when it was renowned as an intellectual gathering place for the artists, (Hemingway, Sartre, Beauvoir, Miller, etc) living on the Left Bank of Paris.
The wonderfully rich Art Deco setting of bright colors, leather seats, inlaid wood panels, stained glass, domed lamps, helps to create a mood of a time long gone.
We began our evening with a delicious soup, squash if I remember correctly.
These sardines with sweet peppers were fresh and delicious.
Our cousin ordered the wedge sole which was fried and arrived with tartar sauce.
This is my favorite dish at Le Dome, the pan-seared John Dory with Annabelle potatoes. The two different photos of this dish were taken during my various visits. I am a creature of habit and this dish is something that I look forward to the second I land in Paris. The fish and the potatoes are so flavorful, so delicate, and tasty; I would dare anyone to not fall head over heels for this delicacy.
The cousins enjoyed their roasted langoustines with tomato pesto and fresh pasta.
This photogenic roasted lobster with basil butter was outstanding albeit not very large; my husband finished it quickly and started to poke around my plate looking for a bit more to eat.
Before I realized that the millefeuille was the house speciality, I would enjoy whatever dessert looked good at a neighboring table. This lemon meringue was light with just the right amount of tart sweetness.
The millefeuille - "Napoleon" - is the pride and joy of Le Dome. It gets brought out as a large rectangular log, cut by the table and sat at a prime location for all to admire. It was stunningly airy, sinfully creamy, and exquisite in taste.
