Some say that this is the place for the best kebab in Tel Aviv. I can't say that it is the best, I really haven't tasted enough to make that proclamation, but it is certainly excellent.
This is yet another great spot at the Carmel Market that is really worth visiting.
Shmuel has been open for a few years and it already has a loyal following. Each time we walked by after doing our market shopping, Shmuel was packed.
So, we decided to give it a try. The place is quite small; there are about 12 chairs at the long counter. Besides the people who are sitting and eating there is a constant stream of customers getting take out.
The lamb kebab plate came with rice and noodles, Israeli salad and tahini. The kebab was very good, but I really preferred the chicken, I just might not be a kebab fan. What I did love is that all the ingredients were very fresh, and all the food was prepared with great care.
The Jerusalem mix - chicken breast, liver and hearts came with a pita and grilled green vegetables.
The chicken was grilled and nicely seasoned and the pita tasted as if just made. This is simple, delicious food, served fast in a fun and lively atmosphere.
I loved this rice and noodles dish, flavorful and delicious.
