This was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, just us and two million of other tourists and locals.
The YuYuan Bazaar is next to the YuYuan Gardens and is a bustling market filled with little shops, places to eat and beautiful old buildings.
The whole area is really beautiful, full of gorgeous traditional buildings and old architecture. The shops sell every kind of souvenir one would desire. There are vendors selling silk, clothing, knickknacks, tea, pearls, ceramic tea sets and more plastic stuff than imaginable.
I found this man who was making the most beautiful cotton candy.
This beauty was mine and all mine.
There was an area of small booths filled with artists making interesting things.
This is Layang Pian (it is translated as Peep Show, but that term means something TOTALLY different in the USA), a very old form of entertainment. The showman pulls a cord which changes the pictures that the people are seeing, and at the same time he is dramatically narrating a story.
There are colorful fish swimming in the pools, the crowds might be overwhelming at times but the bazaar is really a must see when in Shanghai.
