This ice cream shop is only two years old but it seems to have developed a cult like following in a short period of time. I visited it a bit after noon and it was completely empty, but apparently the lines are quite long during the more standard ice cream consumption hours.
Aesthetically, the shop is very appealing, with an old fashion ice cream parlor vibe. There is a counter with stools, some more seats against the wall and a clean white interior with tiles on the floor. There is a definite mix of old and very trendy, but it all works quite nicely.
There were two men working there when we visited, one behind the register and one scooping the ice cream. The scoop man was lovely, polite and friendly but he register guy was the complete opposite of that. His demeanor was as if I demanded some unbelievable and highly unorthodox favor and not for him to just sell me some ice cream. He moved in super slow motion and rudely half answered each of my questions, which totaled in 3, that's not a lot. But anyway, the other guy was very pleasant and the ice cream was delicious. Maybe the register guy had a very bad night.
We got the chocolate with salt and pretzels
and the strawberry, pistachio and pesto. We watched him put the pesto/pistachio mixture into the strawberry ice cream. The combination of flavors was really interesting and quite tasty.
I loved the chunks of pretzels in the salted chocolate but the salt was just too overwhelming. It was so salty that I had to give up on the ice cream. Some of the other flavors that I am looking forward to sampling are: Bourbon vanilla, Szechuan peppercorn chocolate, Vietnamese coffee, cardamon lemon jam and just plain old vanilla.
They do not use egg in the production of their ice cream and try put emphasis on milk. There are plenty of flavors available and I will definitely return for more scoops.
