August of 2012 was a happy time for me, I found out that Eric Kayser opened a bakery in Manhattan. As a frequent visitor to Paris, I have been a fan of his baguette for many years, so having him here was a huge treat.
Eric Kayser is a fourth generation baker who started his apprenticeship at age 14 and opened his first bakery in the Latin Quarter of Paris in 1996. Due to the high quality of his baked goods, Kayser developed a loyal following, expanded throughout Paris and now has over 100 shops in 20 different countries.
Soon after opening the shop in New York City, his baguette won the accolades of being considered the best in NYC.
Maison Kayser is my choice for a delicious lunch, fresh bread and exquisite cakes.
Although their monge baguette is fantastic this new sarrasin baguette is a very close second. It is a buckwheat baguette with a bit of a nutty flavor.
My lunch there is either the Club Poulet, a chicken club
tartine saumon fume, smoked salmon
smoked salmon on a different bread
Beef Bourguignon with mashed potatoes
I like that they always include a little financier with tea or coffee.
the eggs for breakfast are always fresh and done perfectly
Celebrations in our home usually include a cake or pastry from Kayser
apricot and pistachio
This raspberry crumb cheesecake is delicious and very light.
lemon meringue
Most of their locations have seating and some have some tables set up outside as well.
They have many locations throughout NYC
2161 Broadway
Open everyday 7am - 10pm
