It is very difficult to fathom that 15 years have passed since that hellish day.
I remember that day so vividly, every moment etched in my memory as if it was just a few minutes ago.
I remember being scared, not knowing what was going to happen next, were there more planes in the air that will start to drop down on us? I remember the stillness of everything, life seemed to move in slow motion. I remember the quiet above us broken only by the frightening sound of fighter jets. I remember friends calling one another to account for their safe whereabouts. Some were missing but found, some were not.
A few days after this nightmare of a day, I went downtown to see it for myself. I took a few photos which cannot convey the horror of what I saw and felt.
There were makeshift memorials all over the city. People were flying the American flag in their cars, out of their office windows, or had it pinned to their lapels. Everyone in this city was in shock, people were quiet, kind but most of all united. We were all proud Americans.
May we never forget.
