Even though Murren is very small, there are plenty of very good dining options available.
Our first dinner was at Alpina Restaurant where I enjoyed a lovely salad, barley soup and raclette.
Alpina is next door to the Edelweiss hotel and enjoys the same spectacular views.
My husband got this meat and cheese sandwich which did not look very appetizing but tasted great.
For dessert we thoroughly enjoyed a homemade apple strudel with sweet cream and vanilla ice cream. It was really delicious and I wolfed it down fast.
The next day our lunch was at the Eiger Guest House where I once again had barley soup (something about the mountain air that made me crave soup) and a delicious fresh salad. We sat outside and the views were nothing special, sidewalk and the train station.
My husband got this rosti with sausage and onions
And a friend got this tuna salad. Everything was fresh, delicious and served with a smile.
Our final dinner in Murren was at the La Grotte Hotel Blumental. I don't know if it was the company since we were with our dear friends, or the ambiance of the restaurant but this was a fantastic meal.
The restaurant is beautifully and creatively decorated and the service is very professional and polite.
The menu was inside this heavy leather cover.
I fell in love with this dish and had it practically in every Swiss city I visited. It was rosti (potatoes cooked in a skillet) and veal with mushrooms.
My husband and friend shared the meat fondue
These were the sides and sauces for the fondue.
We loved the delicious berry crepe for dessert
Flan with cream
and this was my favorite, apple fritters with vanilla ice cream.
There are many dining choices in Murren and can vary from fairly expensive to extremely reasonable. There are plenty of places that sell food to go and the COOP supermarket is very well stocked.
