For many years, Slodki...Slony has been my first stop upon arriving in Warsaw and my last stop before heading back to the airport.
Slodki...Slony, (Sweet....Salty) is a small restaurant/pastry shop with a decent lunch and dinner menu and a spectacular bakery. I have eaten lunch here only once, a very good soup and sandwich but I really keep coming back for the baked goods.
Their cakes, pastries and babas are just delicious. The place has a beautiful old fashion decor, dark furniture and flowery walls. Upon entering, one is almost transported in time, to Poland long gone. But Slodki...Slony is not just looks and no content.
I have tasted my share of their products and can vouch for the great taste, freshness and high quality.

Beautiful meringue cakes in the display are tempting passers by on ul. Mokotowska.
I also love their take out boxes, pink, pretty and feminine.
My all time favorites are the small plum buns and the larger babeczki w raspberries.
Delicious cheesecake with raisins.
Seasonal fruit cake, available only during the summer.
I usually buy a box of these plum buns to bring back to New York. They are superb, sweet and are quickly devoured by my husband and kids.
Their yeast baba covered with sugar frosting and sprinkled with raisins is light, tasty and full of flavor.
During one of my pre-airport runs I even ran into Mrs. Magda Gessler, the creator of Slodki...Slony, a restaurateur and a TV personality.
Ready to fly back home.
