After our first very memorable visit to OCD, we were eager to repeat the experience. I booked our dinner about a month in advance since, deservedly, OCD has become much more popular in the last year or so. They still do two seatings per night and one Friday brunch per month.
There is something very exciting about the surprise aspect of the dining experience at OCD. There is no menu; while booking the reservation one is asked about any dietary restrictions, and during the evening the diners watch each dish being meticulously prepared by the team in the open kitchen. We marveled as we watched attention being paid to every minute detail and the choreography utilized by the chefs in assembling each plate. This is more than a dinner; it is a theatrical production with spectacular and beautifully presented food.
Our dinner began with this beautiful poori with cardamom leaves foam and cucumber ceviche.
Marinated amberjack with soy and lemon, bone sauce and ginger. Loved the thinly sliced radishes used as garnish.
Puffed rice with shallots and cured Spanish Barracuda.
Bacon butter mochi (Japanese rice cake), with roasted peppers, smoked paprika and rosemary oil.
Beef Tartare with puffed oats, garlic and Nasturtium (that's the green leaf).
Jerusalem artichoke ice cream with Israeli Osetra caviar.
Parkerhouse rolls with whipped tomato cream and Nigella seed.
The rolls were light and heavenly and the cream, did indeed, taste like delicious tomatoes.
Steamed trout with kohlrabi, sorrel and cream reduction.
Smoked daikon with Brussels sprouts, vanilla and yogurt.
Roasted duck with pumpkins, miso and coffee.
Sheep's milk Tete de Moine with onions, oats, and seaweed.
Honey parfait with lemon gel.
Buckwheat with strawberry and salted caramel.
At the end of the evening, the entire team thanked us for coming, the lamps above the island were raised and the lights turned off. The show was over.
Every dish was beautifully arranged, innovative, delicious, and fresh. This is one of those very special restaurants that warrant a visit at least once, but then you will want to come back.
