It was a beautiful and sunny day. A perfect day to explore a new neighborhood. Florentin is an old neighborhood in South Tel Aviv, named after David Florentin, a Greek Jew who purchased the land in the late 1920s. In the last few years, Florentin has been undergoing a change while still keeping its interesting character. It is an area that is somewhat industrial, part garment district and a bit scruffy. The neighborhood is very mixed with clear poor areas but also great bars, restaurants and art galleries.
Cool area, a great walk.
What I found fascinating was the spectacular street art. The walls of so many buildings are covered with very creative art. There is even a Facebook page dedicated to the street art in Tel Aviv and there are guided neighborhood walks centered specifically on the history and the graffiti.
