This very pretty park is the oldest public park in Warsaw. It opened in 1727 as one of the first publicly accessible parks in the World. It was originally part of a palace built in 1666 for a Polish aristocrat. Later, King Augustus II extended the garden.
This is a very beautiful and peaceful park filled with chestnut trees. The only sounds that break the silence are the chirping birds and the hum of the tram nearby.
The Fountain has been in operation since 1855, it was designed by Henryk Marconi.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, at one end of the Saski Park, is dedicated to the unknown soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Poland.
A Committee of Remembrance for the Unknown Soldier was established in 1923 and it decided to construct a tomb for the internement of soil from battlefields. The Tomb was reconstructed after WWII. In 1946 an Appeal to the Fallen was held and urns with soil from War's various fields were interred in the tomb.
A Guard of Honor is maintained at all times by the eternal flame at the grave.
